Carpentry Screwdriver Activity to use at a table. The children are given a presentation on how to hold and use the screwdriver. Once the presentation has been given the children can then screw the screws into a pre-drilled block of wood. (Ideally prepared by the children using the Carpentry hand drill). This activity can be extended by introducing the children to the flat head screwdriver with screws and a further extension would be to not using pre-drilled wood. The activity comes with the table top work tray, which measures approximately 20cm deep x 30cm wide and has a front and back lip to prevent slipping on the table and to contain the activity, a pair of appropriately sized screwdrivers (1 flathead, 1 cross head), 2 blocks of pre-drilled wood (1 spare), two tins of screws plus spare screws of both sorts. This activity is one of 4 and is ideally used to introduce a skill prior to using the Carpentry Bench.
